It is sad to see anyone suffering but we need to come to the rescue and uplift our own first. I think the whole point of the deportations was to dissuade people from trying to enter the USA at the border rather than applying to their local embassy. There are 600 million people who live south of the Rio Grande if you include the islands. Most of them would be happy to enter the USA if the border was open. There is no way the USA can absorb all the people who want to come. The USA wants to accept a small number every year. Swimming the Rio Grande can't be the criteria for acceptance.
